an independent governmental agency that regulates the interstate transmission of electricity, natural gas, and oil. FERC also reviews proposals to build liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals and interstate natural gas pipelines as well as licensing hydropower projects.

Pros

They have the ability to shape our energy economy at a national level.

Cons

The commissioners are appointed by the president, who may not be clearly pro-RE, which can result in states having to fend for themselves.

Real Talk

All else being equal, it would be best if FERC commissioners were 100% on board with RE. It’s important for stakeholders to follow the conversation and understand the dynamics at play.
